A spectacular boat ride from Puerto Vallarta 40 minutes along the emerald coast of the Bahia de Banderas and suddenly, like magic, the village of Yelapa and its beautiful beach with palmed roof restaurants appear in front of you.

A very special place indeed as you notice that there are no cars, no roads, just donkeys and horses.

You disembark at Playa Isabel where Felipe, the caretaker, greets you and helps you with your luggage as he leads you on a 10 minutes walk along the water’s edge and up a hill towards your house.

The casa is conveniently located a 15 min walk from Yelapa center, groceries and souvenirs, just enough to escape the substantial noise of the village life.

Having past the gate you enter 2 acres of lush tropical garden and wild vegetation with hundreds of bougainvilleas, hibiscus, palm trees everywhere, tropical fruit trees such as mangoes, grapefruits, mandarins, lemons, bananas… a few more steps and there it is.

 You have arrived !!

Casa Coco

Wow!”, “This is paradise!”, “This is so beautiful”, “Incredible!” or “What a View!” are often the first comments as people reach the terrace, with its lounge chairs, fronting either Casa Coco.

The panoramic views are truly spectacular and dramatic. Nestled on the side of the mountain amidst luxuriant tropical vegetation teaming with wild exotic birds both houses offer panoramic vistas of the Pacific, the mountain and the beach as well as Puerto Vallarta and Punta Mita in the distance.

Casa Coco is our own vacation home which we enjoy quite frequently with our wonderful friends. Built on roughly two hillside acres we designed and decorated them with great care to balance luxury and openness to nature. The furniture and colors are Mexican in style with much hand carved wood and local art and craft. We decided to install no window panes but instead mahogany louvers to keep that feel of the outdoors but with comfort and privacy... We have also done extensive terracing of the land and put a great deal of love and care in the landscaping. In season a myriad of tropical flowers fill the property

The nights are equally magical. As you sip a drink or have a candle light dinner on one of the terraces, you hear the waves below breaking on the shore while, in the distance, the lights of the coast and the city as well as those of frequent cruise ships leaving port keep you mesmerized. In season you may even be lucky to see the whales and dolphins play right below. Truly we believe it to be one of the best location in Yelapa as we have been told so often.

We want to strongly emphasize, however, that due to their architectural design and openness to nature neither house is advisable for toddlers or very young children.

We also want to bring to your attention that you need to climb a substantial number of steps to reach either house.

Casa Coco is equipped with land line telephones and Broadband internet connection if you wish to bring your own computer. Local phone calls are complementary. Smart phones usually work well around the house though you probably will not get reception in the village proper.

Towels and beach towels, bed sheets, soap, shampoo/ conditioner and body lotions will be provided.

For your entertainment radio/cd/I-pod players, games and some reading material are available in each villa.

Casa Coco offers satellite television with English programming and a DVD player.

The property is lovingly taken care of full time by a local couple team, Felipe and Yanet, who are unfailingly mentioned with utmost appreciation by all our guests. They will assist you with any of your needs related to your stay in Yelapa such as the planning of your activities: sight-seeing, para gliding, kayaking, sailing, horseback riding, fishing, trekking, swimming, snorkeling.

Light cleaning service is included every other day.

As a convenience to our guests, for a reasonable fee, we offer the option to have your fridge stocked upon your arrival. This option is quite popular.

Cooking, laundry sightseeing and transport services are available upon request. We highly recommend Yanet”s cooking, the house cook, who never disappoints us and gets rave reviews for her Mexican cooking.

Seasons and Weather: From November to May the days are sunny and dry with little likelihood of rain. The village itself gets much hotter than at Coco Cabana and Casa Coco where the temperature is quite comfortable with daytime temperature hovering in the low 80's while the nights fall into the 60's with a fairly constant but very light ocean breeze during the day and mountain breeze at night making it pleasantly cool. June to October is the rainy season. Typically the rain comes during the late afternoon and continues sometimes through the night with hot and very bright sunny mornings. The temperature climbs into the high 80's to low 90's during the day and about 10 degrees cooler at night with a fairly high degree of humidity. Be aware however that mother nature may just decide on rain and more rain!

An incredible wild life is teaming right at your door. Jaliscan fauna includes a number of impressive creatures such as ocelots, armadillos, land turtles, foxes, deers and raccoons among others and enough species of birds to impress the most jaded birders among you. You are also likely to see lizards of many kinds including the spectacular iguana. As a matter of fact, two of them have taken up residence in the rafters of Casa Coco.

Unfortunately, scorpions are also indigenous to the region. We do our best to clear brushes, spray and treat the properties to keep these and other unwanted insects away from the houses and the immediate surroundings and so far we have not had a problem.  In fact, as of this writing there has not been one single sighting of a scorpion at either of the houses for well over a year.  Nevertheless, along with various spiders and occasionally some mighty impressive colonies of ants,  they do exist and therefore we recommend that you should not consider staying in Yelapa or anywhere outside urban areas of Mexico if you are medically or visually highly sensitive to such creatures.
